A Brief Study of the Gold applique Technique in Lacquerware from the Western Han Dynasty

Gold and silver applique technique was a sophisticated technique used in lacquerware during the Western Han Dynasty. Academic research has largely focused on compiling historical records and analyzing the artistic qualities of excavated artifacts, with relatively little attention paid to the manufacturing techniques involved. This study combines ancient texts and archaeological findings, and draws on experimental analysis to explore the characteristics and cultural significance of this technique.
